  • How did you find out about the Udderbot?

@kobycomp I was searching for different performances of Bohuslav Martinů’s “Fantasia for Theremin, Oboe, Piano and String Quartet” and ran across Jacob’s amazing udderbot performance on YouTube. I immediately started searching my household for udderbot parts.

  • Traditional tunes - level 1 udderbot brainstorm thread

    Thinking something like

    1. Hot cross buns in Ab major
    2. Mary Had a Little Lamb in A major
    3. Twinkle Twinkle Little Star in Bb major
    4. Do-Re-Mi in B major
    5. Amazing Grace in F major

    And there's Level One!

...or should there be more levels?...

    And I guess Do-Re-Mi isn't exactly traditional.

I know there are scads of other traditional songs, and it would be cool to feature some more obscure ones. Nursery rhymes etc.

  • The Udderbotany Offer

The Art and Science of All Things Udderbot

The udderbot is a new acoustic musical instrument with revolutionary potential, both within the musical world and beyond it.

The most direct way to claim your stake in this exciting project is to join our Udderbotany program.

We have uncovered some crucially helpful techniques out for musicians wanting to incorporate the udderbot seamlessly into their arsenal.

Our body of knowledge looks something like this:

    uddercurric.png

The udderbot was born as a "do-it-yourself" project, but who wants to play in a vacuum? We are here to make awesome music with you—and to help you break through to udderbot mastery.

To take things even further...I believe that no matter what your circumstance, YOU would benefit from learning Udderbotany—the art and science of all things udderbot:

    • Musicians—a new instrument to master.
    • Composers—a fresh timbre to expand your palette.
    • Students—a powerful tool for ear training.
    • Listeners—a guaranteed conversation starter.
    • Music skeptics—something new to passionately dislike!

Udderbotany combines wind instrument essentials with glissando technique gleaned from the fretless family, musical saw, theremin, trombone, string instruments, etc.

Our musical perspective is Western, but also Xenharmonic—proceeding smoothly from the familiar into the unfamiliar.

  • Getcher hand-made udderbots!

We are taking orders for handmade udderbots, in the case that you don't want to make your own udderbot and would prefer to receive one that is guaranteed to be constructed to the standards of me the inventor.

Visit https://udderbot.com/checkout.html to order among the three standard sizes. For now, shipping is included, not calculated.

We look forward to being overwhelmed with orders, but also acknowledge that there is charm in the small scale. We are looking into recruiting an Udderbotsmith Guild so that orders can be filled locally around the world to where the demand springs up.

The udderbot has long been spread around through word of mouth. And, the internet is good at burying things. We endure.

I am curious too, how learning more about microtonality (is that a word?) will develop my pitch awareness. Looking forward to that!

  • Long distance ensemble apps

Hi, I think I heard Jacob mention Jamkazam but I was curious if anyone else has ever used Sonobus — back when I was looking for distance jam apps, sonobus seemed to work best, but I haven’t used it in a while. Read more at

    I do use Facebook. https://facebook.com/bookfixt

I'm working on cultivating an appropriate presence on a wide variety of places, but I don't have a good strategy in place yet.

Also, the Xenharmonic Alliance Discord I'm starting to be more of a presence on: https://discord.gg/9J8k3wdC

Not trying to be invisible, just post too infrequently to be a constant presence anywhere.

    Am involved with MU yes.

    @Marla-G that is a c-r-a-z-y coincidence!

I still cannot believe how good your theremin intonation is. I mean, when you're on, you are ON!

I can't wait 'til we get to some microtonal ear training and how that will open things up.

Here’s a link to the type of canning glove I’m using. They are not super thick, just a bit thicker than regular rubber gloves. I’m not sure about the brand or size though, since I got mine at a garage sale.
